Why Hydration Matters – All Year Round 💧

When it comes to fitness and overall wellbeing, hydration is one of the simplest yet most powerful tools in your toolkit.

Water plays a vital role in so many of the body’s functions - from helping with digestion and nutrient absorption to keeping your joints lubricated and moving freely. It also supports energy levels, brain function and even mood - so if you're feeling foggy, sluggish or sore, dehydration could be the culprit.

What happens when you don’t drink enough?
Not drinking enough water can lead to fatigue, headaches, poor concentration and muscle cramps. Over time, chronic dehydration can also affect performance in the gym, recovery and even your immune system.

Hydration during training matters.
When you train, your body loses fluids through sweat - even during cooler months when you might not feel as thirsty. This makes it crucial to keep your water intake consistent before, during and after your workout to help your body function at its best.

Don’t forget winter!
Just because it’s colder doesn’t mean your hydration needs drop. In fact, we often drink less in winter without even realising it - so staying mindful of your intake is key. A good guide is around 2–3 litres of water a day, more if you're training hard or sweating heavily.

Fortis Pro tip: Skip the energy drinks where you can - they can be dehydrating and often loaded with sugar and caffeine. Water is your body’s best friend!

So grab your bottle, keep it close and sip often — your body (and your workouts) will thank you. 💪💦
