Mixing It Up: Finding Strength in a Different Kind of Training

Since being in the UK, my usual routine of functional fitness has been swapped for something a little different - more running. I’ve been slowly building up my distance and time on my feet. The result? Sore hips, tired legs… but also sunshine, fresh air and a surprising amount of mental clarity.

It’s been a good reminder that sometimes, changing things up in your training is exactly what your body and mind need. Running has given me the chance to reset, refocus and enjoy movement in a different way - not chasing a barbell or the clock but simply putting one foot in front of the other💥

I’ll admit, I’m a little curious about what this will mean for my strength levels when I get back under the barbell but I’m confident the foundation of fitness we build at Fortis is adaptable. Strength isn’t just about what you can lift - it’s about resilience, endurance and finding joy in the process 💪

So, whether it’s swapping your usual weights session for a walk, a swim or even a stretch in the sun don’t be afraid to mix it up. Your body will thank you for the variety and your mind might just feel a little lighter too!!

🌟 Fortis August Update – Strength, Sunshine & Steady Gains 🌟

August may have been a quieter month on the competition front but that hasn’t meant slowing down for our Fortis crew! 💪

Our members have been digging into a brand-new strength cycle, laying the foundation for some exciting new PBs on the horizon. The hard work, consistency and grit we’re seeing in the gym now will pay off in big ways and we can’t wait to celebrate those wins and hear that PB bell ringing!!

As the days grow a little lighter and we start to feel spring creeping in, there’s been a great energy in the gym. 🌱 The change of season always brings a lift and it’s awesome to see our community showing up and putting in the work week after week.

Special shoutout to our Fortis Fit Kids and Teen Angels – you have been smashing it this month! From nailing skills to building strength, the effort and enthusiasm you bring to every session makes us so proud 🙌

Here’s to finishing winter strong and stepping into spring with momentum, strength and plenty of Fortis spirit!
